How Do Robberies Work in GTA 6?
- Find a target
Which stores can you rob in GTA 6?
Rob Nelson said players can try to rob any store they walk into, not only the ones blipped as opportunities on the map.
Small stores and gas stations never show up as map icons; players also learn about targets through NPC tips, story contacts, and stumbling onto them while exploring.

- Crack the safe
How do you get the safe code?
Some store back rooms hide a safe that needs a code, which you can work out yourself, overhear from a pedestrian, or get texted directly by a fence.
The creator who watched this happen calls the discovery process dynamic, differing from player to player.

- Go in solo or together
Can you rob stores with someone else?
Rob Nelson said free-roam robberies "can be done by yourself or you can do them together."
Whether "together" means real co-op or the Jason-and-Lucia duo in single-player has not been said.
Rob Nelson, Rockstar
- Bank it
How do you keep robbery money?
Cash on hand has to reach an ATM to become secure, and duffel-bag loot has to be taken to a fence.
Die while carrying cash and you can lose it; only money already sitting in the bank account is described as safe.

Questions & answers
GTA 6 Robberies: FAQ
How many robbery tiers are in GTA 6?
At least four: local stores at the bottom, then jewelry stores, banks, and criminal compounds, with a creator also floating robbable vans as a possible fifth. "At least" is the honest answer: Rockstar has not published a final count.
What GTA 6 robberies are actually confirmed?
Local store robbery, jewelry store robbery, bank robbery, payday loan robbery, and compound raids are all named directly by Rockstar or shown in official media. Van robbery is not confirmed as its own tier: it is one creator’s own speculation, worded as such below.
Can you rob any store in GTA 6, not just ones on the map?
Yes. Rob Nelson said players can try to rob any store they walk into, not only the ones flagged as opportunities on the map.
How do GTA 6 safe codes work?
Some store back rooms hide a safe that needs a code. The creator who previewed the game described three ways to get one: figure it out yourself, overhear a pedestrian, or have a fence text it to you directly.
Do GTA 6 map blips show the potential take before you commit?
For higher-tier robberies, yes, when they appear on the map at all. Hovering over one shows roughly how much the potential take could be, though the creator who saw this stressed that a robbery showing up on the map is not guaranteed.
Can you do GTA 6 robberies co-op, or only solo?
Rob Nelson said these free-roam robberies "can be done by yourself or you can do them together." It is not fully clear whether "together" means real multiplayer or playing as the Jason-and-Lucia duo in single-player.
How do you learn about GTA 6 robbery tips and leads?
Rob Nelson described NPCs approaching with favors and tips, story contacts tipping you off, and finding robberies emergently while exploring the world.
